Soap Veteran Andrea Evans Enters The #MeToo Movement

Andrea Evans, best known to soap fans as Tawny on The Bold and the Beautiful and Tina on One Life to Live, has a brand-new project on deck.

She’s the producer of a new documentary that hopes to shed light onto the #MeToo movement.

“I’ve produced a feature documentary called Rocking the Couch and it’s with distributors as we speak,” Evans tells Soap Hub.

The film deals with people, including some daytime actresses, who share their experiences of being on the receiving end of unwanted advances.

“It was an interesting project. It took up about six months of my time, which is actually a short amount of time to put together a feature documentary.”

“We have Tonja Walker (ex-Olivia, General Hospital), Carrie Mitchum (ex-Donna, B&B), and Kim Ulrich Johnson (ex-Diana, As the World Turns; ex-Ivy, Passions) and a lot of people who open up about their stories,” Evans explains.

“They talk about their experiences. It also ties back to a case in the 1990s that somehow got overlooked. It’s really very interesting.”

What inspired Evans to want to produce the documentary? “Well, in truth, I was sitting there with my production partner and we were talking about the Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby [cases].”

In what could have been a horrific story, Evans says she was once approached by Cosby about being a guest star on The Cosby Show back in the 1980s when Evans was under contract at OLTL as Tina.

“I couldn’t take the part [because I was on OLTL]. At the time, I was really mad about it, but now I’m thinking maybe it was a really good thing!”

Evans recalls there was a time in the world of show business when targets of sexual harassment were expected to either play along or not rock the boat. “Yeah, that’s the way it was,” she says. “Any of us who’ve been in the business any amount of time know that to be true.”

Will Evans narrate the film? “I don’t do any narrating because my voice doesn’t give it the weight [it requires],” Evans says. “I have kind of a light, squeaky voice. As executive producer, I needed to acknowledge that and let somebody else do the narration!”
