Social media can bring out the best and worst in people and many of us find ourselves on the other end of cruelty. Unfortunately, soap stars are no exception and several have spoken out against this type of bullying over the years, including quite recently.
Some fans can blur the difference between actors and characters and often blame the stars for just doing their job — performing what’s written in the script. Days of Our Lives star Camila Banus just asked for negativity to stop.
“Let’s clarify here, NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS. I have noticed some very inappropriate language used when referring to me and my costars. IF YOU DONT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, JUST DONT SAY ANYTHING AT ALL. ZIP IT!!!”
Twitter followers echoed her sentiments and many asked how anyone could be cruel to kind soap stars like Banus.
However, Banus isn’t the only performer to recently experience online bullying. Both Camryn Grimes (Mariah, The Young and the Restless) and her BFF Linsey Godfrey (Sarah, Days of Our Lives) have had their share of fans commenting on their looks and have spoken out in the past.
Several weeks ago, someone took the bullying to an entirely new level and Grimes did her best to let followers know what was going on and reported accounts, asking others to do the same.
It seems this ‘fan’, who repeatedly called Grimes and Godfrey white supremacists, among other things, would be suspended from Twitter, but then manage to make another account with a different handle.
In 2017, The Bold and the Beautiful star Heather Tom was also chastised by fans for something her character, Katie, did. She also spoke out.
