Soap Ratings: Days of Our Lives in Free Fall as Other Soaps Hang On

The soap opera ratings race for the week ending November 25 show Days of Our Lives in a free fall–a far cry different from a year ago.

Days of Our Lives
Last December, DAYS was enjoying a ratings renaissance, breaking several years-long records and increasing viewers as it hadn’t in ages. Chad, Abby, The Burning Bed, Bo’s death, Stefano’s murder, and more kept viewers glued to the screen and lured others back.

However, all that doom and gloom may have turned some viewers off for good. DAYS remained in fourth place in the most-recently released ratings, pulling in an average of 2,301,000 viewers. While it was up only 62,000 from the week before, it was down more than half a million from the same time last year. DAYS was also down close to or more than 100,000 viewers from last year in each of the three female demographics.

The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless remained at number one, garnering 4,755,000 viewers overall, up 196,000 viewers from the week before but down 41,000 from the year before. Y&R was also up from the week before and down from the same time last year in all three women’s demos.

The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful maintained its number two spot overall and in every demo except women 18-34. For the second week in a row, General Hospital was at number two in that demographic. Pulling in 3,809,000 average viewers overall, B&B was the only soap to have higher numbers from the last week and last year.

General Hospital
General Hospital came in third place of four soaps, pulling in 2,766,000 average viewers, up 50,000 from the week before, but down 56,000 from the year before. GH remained relatively steady in all three female demos, losing somewhat minor numbers here and there.
