The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful may be the only two soaps that are still produced at CBS Television City in Hollywood, but they aren’t the only two serials ever created there!
In this rare video from 2002 hosted by John McCook (Eric, B&B) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, Y&R) fans get a look at the history of soaps that have been broadcast from CBS Television City.
McCook and Scott gave viewers a history lesson and a tour of some of the stages that are used by B&B and Y&R.
“Even before Y&R and B&B, audiences were watching The Clear Horizon, the first soap shot here at Television City,” McCook said. “It premiered in 1960 and had more action sequences that were typical for soaps at the time.”
McCook also gave a history of Capitol, which ran from 1982-87 and was created by former Y&R producer John Conboy.
Scott gave a tour of the CBS wardrobe department, noting its claim as one of the busiest spots in the building. “Nobody keeps this place jumping more than the daytime dramas,” the Y&R actress noted.
An argument between B&B’s Ridge and Taylor shows off the show’s rich history. Then, Y&R fans can enjoy a flashback of Nick and Sharon’s wedding! Plus, don’t miss the blooper segment with Kristoff St. John (Neil) or a fun moment with Jennifer Gareis (Grace, Y&R) and Camryn Grimes (Cassie) involving a hat!
