In 1994, CBS broadcast a special titled 50 Years Of Soaps, an all-star celebration that took a look back at five decades of daytime serials. Among the segments was a tribute to soap opera weddings!
Guiding Light star Frank Dicopoulos (Frank) and One Life to Live star Robert S. Woods (Bo), clad in tuxedos, introduced several famous soap opera brides from over the years.
The actresses wore the wedding gowns they wore as brides on their respective soaps. Among the women recreating their wedding days included Lisa Peluso (Ava, Loving), Laura Bonnarigo (Cassie, OLTL), Eva LaRue (Maria, All My Children), Susan Marie Snyder (Julie, As the World Turns), and Victoria Rowell (Dru, The Young and the Restless).
Also featured were Melissa Reeves (Jennifer, Days of Our Lives), Sharon Wyatt (Tiffany, General Hospital), Judi Evans Luciano (Paulina, Another World), Liz Keifer (Blake, GL) and Hunter Tylo (Taylor, The Bold and the Beautiful).
At the conclusion of the presentation, the soap brides tossed their bouquets into the audience filled with a multitude of daytime stars. Among the recipients who caught one of the bouquets is an actor who is now a star of The Bold and the Beautiful but he was on another soap at the time!
