Soap Opera Ratings Race: Two Soaps Reverse Their Fortunes

The soap opera ratings race for the week ending November 10 offer numbers that seem to reverse the trend of recent ratings periods.

While Days of Our Lives (DOOL) and General Hospital (GH) found an uptrend, that looks like it’s over with The Young and the Restless (YR) and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) taking their places.

The Young and the Restless
The perpetually top-rated Y&R garnered 4,616,000 viewers on average overall, up 201,000 from the week before and 116,000 from the year before. Y&R also gained viewers in all three female demographics over the prior week but lost viewers from the same time last year.

The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap B&B also saw better numbers than the dismal ones from weeks prior, pulling in 3,700,000 viewers on average overall, up 209,000 from the previous week, yet down 134,000 from the previous year.

Like Y&R, it was up in all three female demos from the week before but down in all three from the year before.

General Hospital
GH, which had pulled ahead of Y&R for the number one spot in two of the three female demos last week, is back to number two in that area.

It pulled in 2,706,000 viewers on average overall, down 57,000 from the prior week, yet up 84,000 over the prior year. It was the only soap to drop viewers since last week.

GH also saw a drop from the week before with women 18-49 and 25-54.

Days of Our Lives
DAYS is still slowly, but surely climbing, garnering 2,204,000 viewers on average overall, up 14,000 from the week before, but down 68,000 from the year before. However, it lost viewers in all the female demos, except women 25-54, where it made slight gains from the previous week.
