The soap opera ratings race for the week ending April 28 show bad news for three of four soaps, and relatively surprising good news for another.
Days of Our Lives
The typically-sinking Days of Our Lives (DOOL) was the only soap with improved numbers from the previous weeks. DAYS pulled in 2,062,000 viewers overall, up 10,000 from the week before, but down 137,000 from the year before.
However, DAYS only made gains in one of the key female demos, up a mere 5,000 from the week before with women 25-54.
The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless (YR) kept its number one spot, garnering 4,348,000 viewers on average overall, down 107,000 from the previous week and a whopping half a million viewers from the same time last year.
Still, Y&R did make gains off the previous week in all three key women’s demographics.
The Bold and The Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) retained its number two perch, pulling in 3,556,000 viewers on average overall, down 55,000 from the week before and 269,000 from the year before.
B&B did make gains in the demographic categories from the previous week, with women 18-34 and 18-49.
General Hospital
General Hospital (GH) saw another week of declining ratings all around. It garnered 2,400,000 viewers on average overall, down 67,000 from the week before and 403,000 from the same time last year.
GH also lost viewers from the week before and year before in all three female demos.
Also, it’s highly-anticipated Friday Tracy Episode on April 28 did not earn its highest numbers for the week as expected. Instead, Monday had the best numbers and Friday had the worst.
