The soap opera ratings race offers a rare glimpse of good news for all your favorite soaps. After a particularly dismal first half of the year, all daytime dramas made overall gains — at least from the week before.
The Young and the Restless (YR) remained number one as always, garnering 4,348,000 viewers overall on average, up 195,000 from the week before, but down 247,000 from the year before.
Y&R also made gains in two key female demographics from the previous week, up 28,000 with women 25-54 and 9,000 with women 18-49.
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) came in at number two as per usual. It pulled in 3,550,000 viewers on average overall, up 133,000 from the previous week, but down 191,000 from the previous year.
Like Y&R, B&B was also up with women 25-54 and 18-49 from the previous week, but down from the previous year.
General Hospital (GH) garnered 2,439,000 viewers on average overall, up 75,000 from the week before, down a whopping 296,000 viewers from the same time last year.
Like the CBS soaps, GH was up from the prior week with women 18-49 and 25-43.
Days of Our Lives (DOOL) kept its last place perch, garnering 2,050,000 viewers on average from the week before, up 31,000 from the previous week and down 75,000 from the previous year.
Unlike the other soaps, DAYS made no gains in any of the three female demographics.
