The soap opera ratings race for the week ending March 10 saw another poor number showing for reel-life drama as real-life drama dominated headlines and often TV screens during the day. Are the constant DC scandals becoming more intriguing than our soaps?
The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless remained in its number one spot as always, pulling in 4,287,000 viewers overall on average. It was down 142,000 from the week before, but a whopping 476,000 from the same time last year. However, it did make slight gains from the week before with women 18-49 and 18-34.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful kept its number two perch, garnering 3,415,000 viewers overall on average, down 206,000 from the previous week and 170,000 from the previous year. B&B fared the worst of all four soaps in the female demos, losing viewers in all three categories and tying its all-time low with women 18-49.
General Hospital
General Hospital also lost viewers overall, pulling in 2,600,000 on average, down just 6,000 from the week before (the least loss for any soap) and 298,000 from the year before. GH did gain a modest amount of viewers from the previous week with women 18-49 and 25-54.
Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives remained in last place, pulling in 2,108,000 viewers on average overall, down 26,000 from the week before and 186,000 from the same time last year. The only demo in which it made gains was with women 18-34, where it found 10,000 more viewers than the week before.
