Soap Opera Ratings Race: SHOCKING News For One Soap

The soap opera ratings race for the week ending October 5 show a dip in numbers for one soap that hasn’t seen this big of a drop for quite a while.

Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives, a soap mostly on the rise for the past year, was the only soap to lose viewers all around.

DAYS garnered 2,061,000 viewers on average overall, down 131,000 from the week before and 31,000 from the year before.

The NBC soap also lost ground from both the previous week and year in all three female demographics.

Interestingly enough, DAYS is the only soap that wasn’t a day behind its regular schedule. While the other networks pushed their soaps to the next day due to the Supreme Court hearing, NBC showed DAYS in the middle of the night.

The Young and the Restless
The number-one-rated The Young and the Restless kept its top ranking as per usual, pulling in 4,031,000 viewers on average overall, up 70,000 from the week before, but down 141,000 from the year before.

Y&R also saw gains from the previous week with women 18-49 and 18-34.

The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful saw the most gains in one week of all four soaps still on the air.

B&B garnered 3,335,000 viewers on average overall, up 133,000 from the previous week, but down 185,000 from the previous year.

It also saw gains from the prior week in all four coveted female demos as the custody case for little Will Spencer took center stage.

General Hospital
General Hospital, which had been losing ground fast, had a better week than in the last few months in terms of gains.

GH pulled in 2,304,000 viewers on average overall, up 93,000 from the year before, yet down a whopping 203,000 from the year before.

The soap also lost ground all around in all four female demos, hitting new lows and tying old ones with women 18-49 and 18-34, respectively.
