Soap Opera Ratings Race: Ratings Soar For All Four Soaps

The soap opera ratings race for the week ending April 20 show your daytime dramas on the rise as numbers made some significant improvements.

The Young and the Restless
The perpetually number one-rated The Young and the Restless (YR) had an incredible week as JT’s life came to an end, a secret pact was born.

Y&R garnered 4,574,000 viewers on average overall, up 214,000 from the week before and 119,000 from the year before.

The 45-year-old soap made gains from the previous week in all three coveted female demographics, remaining at number one, of course.

Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives (DOOL) remained in last place, but still made marked gains from the previous week and year.

DAYS pulled in 2,245,000 viewers on average overall, up 39,000 from the week before and 189,000 from the same time last year.

It was also the only soap to make gains from both the previous week and previous year in all three female demos.

General Hospital
General Hospital (GH) garnered 2,476,000 viewers on average overall, up 86,000 from the prior week and 8,000 from the prior year.

GH also lost its number two perch in the three women’s demos, but did make gains from the week before.

The Bold and the Beautiful
The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) was the only soap to not make gains from both the previous week and year.

It pulled in 2,476,000 viewers on average overall, up 29,000 from the week before, but down 155,000 from the year before.

However, it is number two once again in the female demographics, making gains from the previous week in all three.
