Soap Opera Ratings Race: Two Soaps Soap On The Rise, Another In Free Fall

The soap opera ratings race for the week ending November 27 offers some great news to one soap making a comeback–and not-so-great news to another soap seeing some falling numbers.

General Hospital
General Hospital (GH) remains number three overall of the four remaining soaps, pulling in 2,804,000 viewers on average, up 82,000 from the week before and 38,000 from the year before. These were the highest numbers seen since Chris Van Etten took over as co-head writer with Michelle Altman.

However, with women 18-49, GH led the pack and was number one, up 1,000 in that demo from the week before. It ranked number two with women 18-34 and 25-54.

Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives (DOOL) is another fledgling soap seeing good gains. It garnered 2,379,000 viewers on average overall, up 122,000 from the week before and 78,000 from the same time last year.

DAYS also made gains in all three female demographics from the previous week.

The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless (YR) still placed number one as it has for decades, but its ratings are falling. It pulled in 4,542,000 viewers on average overall, down a slight 7,000 from the previous week, but a whopping 213,000 from the previous year.

Y&R also lost viewers from both the week before and year before in all three female demographics, giving up its number one spot with women 18-49.

The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) pulled in 3,669,000 viewers on average overall, up 124,000 from the previous week, but down 161,000 from the previous year.

B&B lost viewers across the female demos, except with women 18-34, where it was up 3,000 from the week before.
