The soap opera ratings race for the week ending February 10 show all soaps in trouble as their numbers take a dive.
Last week, Soap Hub reported that the press conferences coming out of the White House are getting higher Nielsen numbers than the soaps, and with numbers like these, we can see that real-life drama may be usurping reel-life drama.
All four soaps took a hit overall, despite their rankings remaining the same.
The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless pulled in 4,544,000 viewers overall, down 40,000 from the week before and a whopping 465,000 from the same time last year. Out of the three female demographics, the only place Y&R gained was with women 18-49, in which it picked up about 3,000 viewers from the week before. Its rating with females 18-49 and 18-34 tied its previous record low.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful garnered 3,657,000 viewers overall, but lost 7,000 from the previous week and 81,000 from the previous year. B&B also lost ground from the week before and year before in all three female demos.
General Hospital
General Hospital pulled in 2,637,000 average viewers overall, dropping 82,000 from the previous week and 387,000 from the previous year. The only place where GH made gains was with women 18-34. It actually ranked second place in that category and picked up a nominal 1,000 viewers from the week before.
Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives remained in last place, garnering 2,202,000 viewers overall, down 47,000 from the week before and 309,000 from the year before. DAYS did manage to gain viewers from the previous week with women 18-49 and 18-34.
