Soap Opera Ratings Race: Mixed Numbers For All Four Soaps

The soap opera ratings race for the week ending March 30 show all four soaps remaining pretty stagnant for the first time all year. And, this was a week where two shows celebrated anniversary milestones.

While there’s been a lot of staggering ups and downs since 2018 started, no soaps saw any major change as spring approached.

The Young and the Restless
The number-one-rated The Young and the Restless, which turned 45 that week, garnered 4,411,000 viewers on average overall, up 99,000 from the week before, but down 53,000 from the year before.

Y&R also made modest gains from the previous week in all three female demographics, but saw losses from the previous year.

The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful fared the worst of the four shows in comparison to the prior week and year. It pulled in 3,575,000 viewers on average overall, down 109,000 from the week before and 42,000 from the year before.

B&B remained at number three with women 18-49, but moved up to number two with women 18-34 and 25-54.

General Hospital
It was the week of General Hospital’s big 55th anniversary celebration, but it didn’t bring in high ratings.

GH garnered 2,509,000 viewers on average overall, down 88,000 from the week before, but up 7,000 from the year before.

GH also lost viewers from both the previous week and previous year in all three female demos.

Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives remained in last place, pulling in 2,202,000 viewers on average overall, down 160,000 from the week before, yet up 6,000 from the same time last year.

DAYS also made no gains in any of the coveted female demographics.
