The soap opera ratings race for the week ending June 16 saw another week of disappointing numbers for daytime dramas.
It was also a week of constant preemptions as Jeff Sessions testimony took center stage in the Senate and other news got in the way of soaps.
The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless (YR) remained at number one as always, pulling in 4,153,000 viewers on average overall, up 20,000 from the week before, yet down 127,000 from the year before.
Y&R tied its all-time low with households and set a record new low with women 18-49. It also lost viewers in the other two female demographics.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) came in at number two, as it always goes, garnering 3,417,000 overall viewers on average. It was up 10,000 from the previous week, but down 217,000 from the previous year.
B&B also set a brand-new low with women in the 18-49 age demographic.
General Hospital
General Hospital fared even worse than the CBS soaps. It pulled in 2,364,000 viewers on average overall, down 184,000 from the the week before and a whopping 334,000 from the year before.
And yes, GH also set a new low with women 18-49.
Days of Our Lives
The only soap not to tie or set a new low in that demo was Days of Our Lives, but it still didn’t do well overall and in any demo. It garnered 2,019,000 viewers on average, down 108,000 from the previous week and 55,000 from the same time last year.
DAYS also lost viewers in all three female demos.
