The soap opera ratings race for the week ending July 14 hints that fans were getting ready for a brand-new daytime day–or DAYS.
Days of Our Lives
Yes, Days of Our Lives (DOOL) was the soap that made the most improvement in the week that ended just five days before new writing began airing.
The soap remained at number four out of four soaps, pulling in 2,085,000 viewers overall on average, but it was up 40,000 from the week before, its most improvement in quite a while. Still, it did lose 7,000 viewers from the same time last year.
The Young and the Restless
The only other soap to make gains overall was The Young and the Restless (YR), which remained in first place as per usual. Y&R garnered 4,478,000 viewers on average overall, up 20,000 from the week before and 47,000 from the year before.
However, Y&R lost viewers from the previous week in all three female demographics, and only made gains from the previous year with women 18-34.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) saw some big losses, pulling in 3,460,000 viewers on average overall, down 96,000 from the week before and 142,000 from the year before.
B&B also saw losses from the previous week and previous year in all three female demographics.
General Hospital
General Hospital (GH) seemed to be on par with B&B in terms of lost viewers. It garnered 2,410,000 viewers on average overall, down 43,000 from the year before and 170,000 from the same time last year.
The only place where GH saw any gains was with women 18-49, where it was up a mere 3,000 viewers from the previous week.
