Soap Opera Ratings Race: Good Week for One Soap, Mixed for Other Soaps

In the soap opera ratings race for the week ending February 3, General Hospital made a relatively strong showing compared to the other three daytime soaps.

General Hospital
GH was the only soap to make overall gains from the previous week. It pulled in 2,719,000 viewers on average, up 83,000 from the week before, but down by 266,000 from the year before. In fact, GH also moved up a notch and came in at number two in the 18-49 female demographic, pulling in 488,000, up 18,000 from the previous week, but down 43,000 from the same time last year. It also gained from the week before with women 18-34 and 25-54.

The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless maintained its number one spot as always, garnering 4,584,000 viewers on average, down 183,000 from the week before and 283,000 from the year before. It was also down from both the previous week and previous year in all three female demos.

The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful pulled in 3,664,000 average viewers overall, down 154,000 from the week before, but up a slight 21,000 from the year before. The only other place B&B made gains was with women 18-34, where it was a hair up with 2,000 more viewers from the previous week.

Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives is the only soap to lose viewers across the board. The 51-year-old soap remained in last place, garnering 2,249,000 average viewers overall, down 11,000 from the week before and 318,000 from the same time last year. It also lost from the previous week and previous year in all three female demos.
