The soap opera ratings race for the week ending September 28 show three out of four daytime dramas on the rise, but one slipping once again.
While no soaps saw any significant gains all around, one did see significant losses.
General Hospital
General Hospital, which has had up and down ratings all year, seems to be on a downward turn, garnering 2,211,000 viewers on average overall, down 110,000 from the previous week and 313,000 from the previous year.
GH also saw losses from the prior week and year in all three female demographics as fans have been frustrated by the lack of story movement and the insistence on featuring new characters who haven’t really caught on.
Days of Our Lives
While GH was the only soap that saw losses all around, Days of Our Lives was the only one to see gains from the week before and year before, pulling in 2,192,000 viewers on average overall.
DAYS was up 50,000 from the prior week and 92,000 from the prior year. However, DAYS lost viewers all around in all three female demos.
The Young and the Restless
The number-one-rated The Young and the Restless kept its top perch, garnering 3,961,000 viewers on average overall, up a slight 11,000 from the week before but down a whopping 377,000 from the year before.
Y&R also made gains from the previous week with women 18-49 and 25-54.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful pulled in 3,202,000 viewers on average overall, up 15,000 from the prior week but down 292,000 from the same time last year.
The only place where B&B made any gains in the demographics was with women 25-54, where it was up 8,000 from the week before.
