Soap Opera Ratings Race: Good News for GH, Bad For DAYS, Mixed for CBS

The soap opera ratings race for the week ending November 18 show significant gains for General Hospital, both overall and in the broken down demographics.

General Hospital
While ABC’s General Hospital remained in third place out of four soaps overall, it made the most gains over one week. The soap pulled in 2,716,000 average viewers overall, up 94,000 from the week before and 48,000 from the year before. In the 18-49 female demographic, GH took the number two spot, gaining 31,000 from the week before and 27,000 from the year before. GH also snagged the number two spot away from The Bold and the Beautiful in the 18-34 demo, gaining 16,000 from the previous week, but losing 18,000 viewers from the previous year.

The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless maintained its perpetual number one spot overall and in all demographics. It garnered 4,559,000 viewers, up 59,000 from the previous week, but down a whopping 335,000 from the same time last year. It also lost viewers all around in the 18-49 and 18-34 female demographics.

The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful took the number two spot overall, but lost 117,000 viewers from the week before, while gaining 178,000 from the same time last year. The soap also lost viewers from the previous week and previous year in all three female demographics.

Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives came in last place as usual, losing numbers from the week before and the year before overall and in the demographic categories. It pulled in 2,239,000 viewers on average, but overall lost 33,000 from the week before and a staggering 448,000 from the same time last year.
