Soap Opera Ratings Race: GOOD News For All Four Soaps

The soap opera ratings race for the week ending December 14 show some much-needed improvements for all four remaining daytime dramas.

After weeks of declining numbers, the tide might be turning. No soap has yet to recover 2017 numbers, but maybe 2019 could turn things around.

The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless remained at number one as per usual, garnering 4,097,000 viewers on average overall, up 182,000 from the week before, but down 462,000 from the year before.

Y&R saw improvements from the previous week in all three female demographics, but losses from the previous year.

The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful pulled in 3,211,000 viewers on average overall, up a mere 21,000 from the prior week, but down a whopping 334,000 from the prior year.

Like Y&R, B&B gained viewers in the female demos from the week before, but lost from the year before.

General Hospital
General Hospital kept its third place position of four soaps, garnering 2,437,000 viewers on average overall, up 130,000 from the week before, but down 355,000 from the year before.

Like the CBS soaps, GH found more viewers in the female demos than it did the previous week, but less than it did the previous year.

Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives, which was the only soap to see consistent improvement in 2018, pulling in 2,202,000 viewers on average overall.

DAYS was up 188,000 viewers from the prior week, but down 128,000 viewers from the same time last year.

Like the other three soaps, it made gains in the three female demographics compared to the week before, but saw losses compared to the year before.
