The soap opera ratings race for the week ending December 16 finally shows some good news for Days of Our Lives, which had been in free fall for a few weeks.
Days of Our Lives
While DAYS ranked fourth out of four soaps as per usual, it was the only show to make gains overall from last week. It pulled in 2,336,000 viewers on average, up 52,000 from the week before, but down 129,000 from the same time last year. DAYS also gained viewers from the previous week in all four female demographics.
The Young and the Restless
The number-one rated The Young and the Restless garnered 4,622,000 viewers on average, down 37,000 from the week before and 152,000 from the year before. It was also down from the previous week and previous year in the four female demos.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful fared better than Y&R in terms of gains. It pulled in 3,704,000 viewers on average, down 22,000 from the week before, but up 107,000 from the year before. However, it was also down all around in the female demos.
General Hospital
General Hospital did well in some female demographics, displacing B&B for the number two spot for women 18-49 and 18-34. However, it lost viewers overall. It garnered 2,634,000 viewers on average, down 20,000 from the week before and 183,000 from the same time last year.
