Both The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful saw their numbers rise overall and in some key female demographics the week ending October 14, 2016, while the soap opera ratings race did not deliver such good news for the other two soaps.
The Young and the Restless
The perpetually number one-rated Y&R pulled in 4,511,000 average viewers overall, up 61,000 from the week before. However, the soap was down 283,000 from the same time last year. The soap was also up from the previous week in the 18-49 women’s demo by 25,000 viewers, but down from the year before by 125,000. It also lost viewers from the prior week and prior year in the 18-34 and 25-54 demos.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap B&B pulled in 3,771,000 average viewers overall, but unlike Y&R, it gained 52,000 viewers from the week before and 212,000 from the same time last year. In the female demos, it gained from the week before with women 18-49 and 25-54, but saw losses in other areas.
General Hospital
Number three-rated GH garnered 2,691,000 average viewers overall, up 20,000 from the week before and 45,000 from the same time last year. However, in the 18-49 and 18-34 demos, it lost viewers all around. The only demo gain it saw was 14,000 from the week before in the 25-54 category.
Days of Our Lives
DAYS came in last place once again, pulling in 2,208,000 viewers on average, but losing 10,000 from the week before and a whopping 439,000 from the same time last year. DAYS also saw losses from the previous week and previous year in all three female demographics.
