The soap opera ratings race for the week ending July 20th shows General Hospital (GH) on the rise after weeks of dismal ratings.
General Hospital
The 55-year-old soap featured Carly interrupting Nelle and Michael’s wedding, but the two ultimately marrying in the hospital, and it clearly drew in viewers.
GH garnered 2,447,000 viewers on average overall, up 17,000 from the week before and 88,000 from the year before. It was the only soap to make gains overall.
However, GH didn’t fare as well in the three coveted female demographics, only making slight gains from the week before with women 25-54.
Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives (DOOL) managed to make some significant gains, but not all around. It pulled in 2,126,000 viewers on average overall, down 48,000 from the week before, but up 151,000 from the year before.
DAYS also saw improved numbers from just the year before in all three female demographics.
Both CBS soaps remained in their number one and number two positions, but seemed to hemorrhage viewers.
The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless, which has taken flack for killing Hilary and making Jack a non-Abbott, garnered 4,122,000 viewers on average overall, down 44,000 from the prior week and a whopping 336,000 from the prior year.
Y&R did manage to make gains from the week before in all three women’s demos.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful has viewers griping that the Liam/Steffy/Hope triangle is never ending. It pulled in 3,381,000 viewers on average overall, down 49,000 from the previous week and 107,000 from the previous year.
B&B also made gains only from the previous weeks in the female demos.
