The soap opera ratings race for the week ending January 19 show a strong week for Days of Our Lives (DOOL).
Days of Our Lives
While DAYS ranked number four out of four remaining daytime dramas as usual, it seemed to be closing in on General Hospital (GH).
The NBC soap garnered 2,531,000 viewers on average overall, up 52,000 from the week before and a whopping 238,000 from the year before. This is the highest numbers for the show since Ron Carlivati took over as head writer.
DAYS did not fare as well in the female demographics, only making gains from the week before with women 18-34.
The Young and the Restless
The number-one-ranked The Young and the Restless pulled in 4,840,000 viewers on average overall, up 30,000 from the previous week and 177,000 from the previous year. Like DAYS, the CBS soap also didn’t fare well with the demos, losing viewers or remaining the same all around.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful reclaimed its number two spot from General Hospital (GH) in the demos and posted mixed numbers overall. The show garnered 3,912,000 viewers on average, down 23,000 from the week before, but up 44,000 from the previous year.
B&B also made gains from the previous week with women 18-34 and 25-54.
General Hospital
GH’s numbers and demo rankings both fell, with the ABC drama pulling in 2,732,000 viewers on average overall, down 83,000 from the prior week and 32,000 from the prior year.
The soap also lost viewers from the week before and year before in all three female demographics.
