The soap opera ratings race for the week ending January 13 saw a drop in numbers for all four soaps overall. While there were some improvements in the demographics, no soap made improvements with the big numbers.
The Young and the Restless
While The Young and the Restless remained number one by pulling in 4,686,000 viewers on average, it was down 298,000 from the week before and 583,000 from the week before. The only category in which Y&R saw any improvement was for women 18-34, in which it was up by 12,000 viewers from the previous week.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful came in second out of four soaps as always, garnering 3,783,000 viewers overall. However, it was down 290,000 from the week before and 215,000 from the same time last year. The only place where B&B made gains was with women 18-34, picking up 37,000 more viewers than the week before.
General Hospital
General Hospital was the number three ranked soap, pulling in 2,653,000 viewers on average, down 165,000 from the previous week and 362,000 from the previous year. In fact, GH performed so poorly that it didn’t make any gains from the year before or the week before in any of the female demographic categories.
Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives once again came in last place, garnering 2,351,000 viewers overall, losing 40,000 from the week before and 440,000 from the year before. However, DAYS was the one soap that made the best gains in the demos. For women 18-49, it was up 8,000 from the week before and for women 18-34 it was up 10,000 from the previous week.
