The soap opera ratings race for the week ending July 28 show one soap continuing on its downward spiral after a bit of an uptick and another picking up steam.
Days of Our Lives
Despite scripts from a new head writer, Days of Our Lives (DOOL) had another bad numbers week, pulling in 1,976,000 viewers on average overall, up a mere 1,000 viewers from the week before, but down 212,000 from the year before.
DAYS truly took a hit with women 18-49, where it hit a new low for the second straight week, with just 282,000 viewers, down 8,000 from the week before and 69,000 from the week before.
General Hospital
General Hospital (GH) was the only soap to make relative gains overall, yet remained in third place out of four soaps. It garnered 2,436,000 viewers on average overall, up 77,000 from the previous week, yet down 241,000 from the previous year.
GH also made gains from the week before in all three female demographics.
The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless (YR) retained its number one spot as per usual, pulling in 4,397,000 viewers on average overall, down 61,000 from the week before and 228,000 from the same time last year.
Y&R also lost viewers from the week before and year before in all three female demos.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) remained number two, but saw the most losses overall. It pulled in 3,348,000 viewers on average overall, down 128,000 from the week before and 339,000 from the year before.
B&B did manage to make gains from the week before with women 18-34, up by a mere 2,000.
