Soap Opera Ratings Race: All Soaps Down in Key Demographic

The soap opera ratings race places its main focus on the female 18-49 demographic and for the week ending July 29, all soaps saw a loss in that category.

While The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful remained the number one and number two rated soaps as always, Y&R was down by 283,000 overall viewers from the previous year. However, it didn’t lose any overall viewers from the previous week, pulling in a total of 4,625,000. In the 18-49 demo, Y&R lost 213,000 viewers from the year before and 13,000 from the week before.

Sister soap B&B pulled in 3,676,000 overall viewers, up 49,000 from the previous week, yet down 50,000 from the previous year. In the 18-49 demo it tied a new low with only 467,000 viewers, down 1,000 from the week before and 131,000 from the week before.

Some Good News for GH
Number-three-rated General Hospital garnered 2,678,000 overall viewers, up 157,000 from the week before and 86,000 from the same time last year. However, in the 18-49 demo, it lost 25,000 viewers from the week before and 107,000 from the same week last year.

Mixed News for DAYS
NBC’s Days of Our Lives pulled in 2,188,000 million overall viewers, up 28,000 from the week before, yet down 167,000 from the same time last year. In the 18-49 female demo, it was down 25,000 from he previous week and 107,000 from the previous year.
