The soap opera ratings race for the week ending August 18 show the continuing trend of up and down numbers for your favorite daytime dramas.
Just when you think one soap is on an upswing, things fall apart again. And the soaps on a downswing, suddenly have a good week.
The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless was a soap with a somewhat bad week, garnering 4,166,000 viewers on average overall, down 78,000 from the week before and 398,000 from the year before.
However, the soap did make slight gains with women 18-34 and 18-49 from the week before. It still lost viewers in those same demos from the previous year.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful had a relatively good week overall. It pulled in 3,474,000 viewers on average, up 93,000 from the previous week, but down 275,000 from the same time last year.
In the key female demographics, B&B was up from the prior week with women 18-34 and 18-49.
Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives saw slight improvements, but only very slight. It garnered 2,014,000 viewers on average overall, up 5,000 from the week before. However, it was down from the previous week in all three key female demos.
There was no information available for DAYS for comparisons to the same time last year.
General Hospital
General Hospital also performed quite poorly in comparisons from the previous week and previous year. It pulled in 2,369,000 viewers on average overall, down 110,000 from the week before and 204,000 from the year before.
However, the soap did make very slight gains with women 18-34 and 25-54.
