Who Is Kevin Bacon?
Bacon was born on July 8 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was also raised. Bacon attended Julia R. Masterman High School and was then awarded a full scholarship to attend the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts at Bucknell, which officially got him interested in acting. He then left home at 17 to pursue a career in theater in New York City.
Soap Beginnings
After moving to New York and landing a couple of acting jobs, Bacon got parts on two soaps. In 1979, he played Todd Adamson on Search for Tomorrow, and from 1980-1981, he played T.J. Werner on Guiding Light. He replaced T.J. Hargrave in the role, who later was killed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.
Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon
Bacon has inspired a game called “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon,” which essentially proves that all celebrities have a link to him by no more than six other people. Though Bacon was initially hesitant to accept the game and his involvement, it eventually stuck and he decided to create a networking site called SixDegrees.org, which links up people with charities.

He met actress Kyra Sedgwick while working on the TV movie Lemon Sky together. The couple got married in 1988 and they have two children together, son Travis and daughter Sosie.
