Family dynamics have been a soap opera staple for decades. Few genres have mastered having multiple generations interacting together in a meaningful way as much as soaps.
For viewers who didn’t grow up with grandparents, they could live vicariously though their favorite soap characters, who feel like family. Soap Hub asked who do you wish was your grandfather?
Mover and Shaker
Just like Claire and Ciara, 25% believe Victor (John Aniston) on Days of Our Lives (DOOL) would be handy to have around.
Maybe it’s because of the money he likes to hand out or the fact he has judges in his pocket, so you rate him as the best one to have!
Fashion-Forward
How many grandfathers can hook you up with a Forrester Original? Maybe that’s why 24% of you think Eric (John McCook) on The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) would be the one to choose.
He seems to be able to forgive transgressions, like skipping his wedding – who wouldn’t love to have him?
Never Mind
Apparently this crop of grandpas wasn’t impressive enough for 23%, who chose none of the above as your choice. Maybe you’re fiercely independent and don’t need one.
Ruthless
Well 19% of you don’t seem to mind having a grandfather who is ruthless so you chose Victor (Eric Braeden) from The Young and the Restless (YR). At least you know you’ll probably get a pony on your birthday!
Grandpa Mobster
Only 5% thought having a grandfather who was a mobster (well, yes, he wanted out but still…) seemed like a good thing and chose Julian (William deVry) from General Hospital (GH)
Loving Everyone
Oddly, about 3% decided they didn’t feel like choosing and wanted all of the suggested grandfathers to belong to them. Having all of those men in the same room could make birthdays a bit awkward.
