Public school on a soap opera — are you kidding? Well, one of these characters actually attended high school while all of the others were carted off to boarding school. Do you know which one?
The Young and the Restless (YR)
While Victor and Nikki seem like the perfect (grand) parents now, back then, not so much. Poor little rich girl, Victoria (Amelia Heinle), was shipped off to a Swiss boarding school as a cute little blonde tot.
She returned as an angst-ridden teen with long brown hair, ready to jump into business by working in the mailroom at Newman. Did she even graduate? (Marrying an Oxford professor (Cole) doesn’t count.)
The Bold and the Beautiful (BB)
RJ (Anthony Turpel) returned from boarding school and immediately decided to work in the family business. He was also determined to get his parents back together.
Who knows? Maybe if he had attended public school with plenty of kids whose parents were divorced, he may have been more used to the idea. Now he’s got his own love life to worry about, so lucky for Brooke he’s off her back.
Days of Our Lives (DOOL)
Newspaper publisher Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves) comes from good Horton stock. They are down to earth, intelligent people but also a bit troubled.
Jennifer’s mother Laura had a breakdown and was in a catatonic state for most of her childhood.
Because of that, her father sent her off to boarding school. But it wasn’t for Jennifer and she eventually ran away as a teen, turning up in Salem. She then went to high school and met future boyfriends, Glenn and Frankie.
General Hospital (GH)
You would think that the child of Luke and Laura would have to go to boarding school as the family lived their life on the run. Well, you would be wrong.
Lulu’s (Emme Rylan) famous parents actually settled down by the time she came around.
But Laura faced a rough time and ended up having to be committed in a catatonic state (another Laura in a catatonic state—small soap world!).
Lulu went to live with her grandmother for a while until she ended up living with her father and his new wife Tracy, falling for Tracy’s son, Dillon, and becoming pregnant. No boarding school for Lulu!
