Are you someone who gets a new book and reads the last page? Spoilers for soaps are like that… but do they enhance or ruin the experience?
There was a time before online sites or even soap opera magazines spoiled huge moments on the soaps. You would watch on Friday and you really didn’t know what was going to happen on Monday.
Sure, there a still few moments like that, but they are certainly few and far between. These days, you can almost weeks ahead what’s going to happen on your favorite soap.
But when you think of those few times where the shows really did shock you — like when Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) showed back up on The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) — did it blow your mind? Were you excited, or were you upset that you didn’t already know?
Soap Hub wanted to know exactly how you feel about spoilers, and you didn’t disappoint.
Who Needs Surprises?
After over 4,000 votes were tallied, 51% feel that knowing what’s going to happen ahead of time makes the show better! Take Days of Our Lives (DOOL): You knew Theresa (Jen Lilley) was returning and it made the anticipation of her return even better!
On the Fence
For 40%, you aren’t ready to commit either way — and you feel it totally depends on the spoiler. Take the return of Steve Burton (Jason).
You were thrilled he was returning but you weren’t sure if he was a twin or perhaps even Nikolas with a new face. It was driving you crazy! You HAD to know!
Surprise Me
Still, 8% believe that when a show can surprise you, like when Nick (Joshua Morrow) ripped off his JT (Thad Luckinbill) mask on The Young and the Restless, it makes even better!
You don’t understand why anyone would want to know beforehand and take all of the fun out of things.
