It’s true that many a soap opera character has been known to act like an animal. They growl, they bare their teeth, they toy with those they consider weaker, they lash out when cornered, they kill, and some definitely appear to periodically go into heat.
But would soap fans like to see fewer characters acting like animals and more actual animals on their shows? Here’s what over 6,000 viewers barked about.
Animal Magnetism
Sure, we’ve got a few pets on the canvas these days. There’s the General Hospital (GH) lizard Finn (Michael Easton) pals around with. Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) has a pony on The Young and the Restless (YR).
But the days of Lucky Spencer hanging with Foster on GH, while the Quartermaines’ Annabelle swoons over him, or even Todd’s (Roger Howarth) parrot on One Life To Live (OLTL) are long gone.
Whatever happened to Victor’s (Eric Braeden) puppy on Y&R?
Or even Sheila’s (Kimberlin Brown) Dobermans on The Bold and the Beautiful (BB)? An animal-loving 75% of you are dying for a return to those times.
How about a cat for Y&R’s Esther (Kate Linder), to make up for the daughter she thinks died? Or a snake for B&B’s Quinn (Rena Sofer)? And GH’s Cam and Aiden could sure use a Mama Lion, to make up for their own mom forgetting they exist.
Spirit Animals
Before your faves set to disciplining errant animals, 43% of the audience believes a few humans need to be housebroken first. Sami (Allison Sweeney) on Days of Our Lives (DOOL) really needs to learn not to just go barging into places like a bull in a china shop.
GH’s Sonny (Maurice Benard) needs to stop foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog whenever the world doesn’t spin his way.
Y&R’s Hilary (Mishael Morgan) should consider not repeating everything she hears like a parrot, and B&B’s Bill (Don Diamont), let’s go easy on the neighing, K?
