Oh, No! Are You Tired Of Evil Twin Soap Opera Stories?!

Don’t I know you? Over the years, our favorite soap opera towns have been periodically plagued by lookalikes who wreak havoc… but do soap fans feel this particular trope has been played out?

You know you’ve seen them: They look just like one of your favorites but they’re acting so strangely and doing horrible things to people.

General Hospital currently has this story as Ryan (Jon Lindstrom), Kevin’s evil twin, has locked him away and taken over his life!

Soaps sometimes mix things up and it’s just a lookalike and not a twin, but other than that, there aren’t a ton of ways to freshen up this soap opera cliché. Because of that, Soap Hub wondered if you are getting tired of this device and over 13,000 weighed in.

Twinning Out
It looks like 88% of you have had it with the evil twin storyline and are ready for something fresh. GH has Ryan, but they also had Alex (Finola Hughes) to Anna, and then there’s Drew (Billy Miller) and Jason (Steve Burton), even though neither of them seems evil but one is a hitman, so there’s that!

Enough already! The Bold and the Beautiful seems to manage just fine, outside of their experimenting with Amber’s (Adrienne Frantz) twin, April, but at least that was over quick. And the show has managed to be on the air for decades. Take note other soaps!

Twice the Fun
A solid 12% love it and want more! Cane (Daniel Goddard) had an evil twin on The Young and the Restless who stole his life but Caleb ended up paying the ultimate price.

And you were totally faked out and loved every second of it when Cane was revealed to be alive! Plus, Jeanne Cooper’s turn as both Kay and her lookalike Marge was a hoot!

Days of Our Lives had twins played by twins with Deidre Hall (Marlena) and her sister Andrea (ex-Samantha), but now she has to deal with lookalike Hattie… and it’s always fun when she shows up! Ditto Adrienne’s (Judi Evans) lookalike with Bonnie.
