Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of December 30 – January 3 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless.

Top 10 Hits and Misses

#10 MISS: The Rafe (Galen Gering) doppelganger’s creepy actions (DAYS). First, Arnold Feniger (also Galen Gering) called Jada (Elia Cantu) terms of endearment like “babydoll” and “babycakes.” He then upped the creepster factor at Johnny’s (Carson Boatman) and Chanel’s (Raven Bowens) NYE party when he kissed Jada at midnight on New Year’s Eve. Arnold making EJ’s (Dan Feuerieggel) life hell is fun. Hard pass when he starts in on Jada.

#9 HIT: Luna spies Will in the Next Week On teaser (B&B). This is a little bit of cheating, but we were intrigued when we watched the B&B promo for next week. Spotted: Luna (Lisa Yamada), under house arrest at Bill’s Los Angeles mansion, spies Will (Crew Morrow) from her hiding spot. Will Luna transfer her fixation with Bill (Don Diamont) to someone much more age-appropriate, like his son, Will?

#8 HIT: Danny supporting Daniel (Y&R). On New Year’s Eve, Danny (Michael Damian) miraculously showed up in Genoa City to help ring in the New Year. His presence certainly upset Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) because she didn’t appreciate having to witness Danny and Christine’s (Lauralee Bell) reunion. But what we loved seeing was that Danny was finally able to support Daniel (Michael Graziadei) in person. Daniel had the worst 2024 ever, and he needed his dad.

#7 MISS: Sasha wants to raise her baby on her own (GH). Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) wants to do everything on her own, and that’s cool. But Michael (Chad Duell) genuinely seemed to like the idea of having another kid, especially since he was going through such a hard time. And she wouldn’t even let him give her money to help. We’re happy for Sasha to have another chance at a baby. And we know the drama that would happen if the world found out the baby daddy was Michael. But Sasha not wanting Michael to have a role in his baby’s life made us sad.

#6 HIT: Doug III becomes a sounding board for Holly (DAYS). So far, Doug III’s (Peyton Meyer) time in Salem has been frustrating. He stole the priceless necklace from the Horton time capsule and then had Leo (Greg Rikaart) sell it. So, when Holly (Ashley Puzemis) needed someone to confide in, he was the last person we expected. But she needed to talk to someone after learning that Sophia (Madelyn Kientz) was pregnant, and Tate (Leo Howard) kept the truth from her. Doug III listened to Holly; seeing him in a new light was nice.

#5 MISS: Blink and you missed it (B&B). Is it just us, or did this Will, Electra (Laneya Grace), and Remy (Christian Weissmann) AI story reach its conclusion in the speediest fashion? For weeks, we saw Remy secretly obsessing over his friend from home. And then suddenly, it’s wrapped up. Electra discovered the doctored photos of her in Remy’s apartment. Then, Remy caught her before she could leave. And what felt like two seconds later, Will saved Electra from Remy. Remy ran off, but then back at Forrester, Will, and Electra told everyone the creepy guy was in police custody. What? We saw none of that.

#4 HIT and MISS: Genoa City knows Ian is back (Y&R). Any movement in this supervillain story is welcome. So, Ian (Ray Wise) showing himself to Mariah (Camryn Grimes), Nick (Joshua Morrow), and Faith (Reylynn Caster) was smart. However, his plan to drug Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) only to save her so he could prove he was a changed man was tame. We get Ian is playing the long game here, but we had higher hopes for Tessa and Mariah’s involvement in this story.

#3 HIT: Dante and Lulu have it out in Prague over Charlotte (GH). It’s completely understandable that Lulu (Alexa Havins) wants Charlotte safe and back with her in Port Charles, but she’s bulldozing into a situation that’s precarious and unstable. Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) giving her his two cents about her actions was much needed. He didn’t pull any punches, either. He played the Sam (formerly Kelly Monaco) card. Dante also played the Rocco (Finn Francis Carr) card. And he let her know that the sniper followed Lulu and not him, which was true. It was a very satisfying conversation that had us on Team Dante.

#2 HIT and Miss: Luna is out of jail (B&B). Luna is no longer in jail, and we love that. However, we’re confused about the way it happened. Luna convinced Bill she was in 24/7 danger behind bars. So he used his pull to get her released from prison into house arrest. Or should we say mansion arrest? She sports an ankle monitor, but per Dollar Bill’s rules, she has the run of the place (indoors and outdoors), but she can’t leave the property. However, she can’t let anybody see her. We get that he’s Dollar Bill, but how does someone strike a deal like this with the police?

#1 MISS: Johnny and Joy didn’t sleep together at all (DAYS). After all that we’ve endured in this Johnny and Chanel cheating story, Johnny and Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) didn’t actually sleep together? Chanel still has every right to be livid with her husband, which she is. After all, he and Joy did make out and take most of their clothes off and make out some more before Johnny put a stop to it. However, the even bigger betrayal was the fact that Johnny lied to Chanel about it for months. Honestly, we just wish Johnny and Chanel never had to go through this in the first place.

Honorable Mentions

HIT: New Year’s Eve is the time for Michael and Lauren (Y&R). Last year, Michael (Christian LeBlanc) and Lauren (Tracey Bregman) renewed their vows. This year, they got much of the NYE focus as they talked to the various partygoers. They stewed over their rift with Phyllis, and they danced a lot. Michael also forgave Diane (Susan Walters), while Jack (Peter Bergman) asked Lauren to be nice to his wife. Are we going to see a Jack and Diane and Michael and Lauren double date in 2025? How many feathers will be ruffled with that particular outing? Anyway, we enjoyed seeing Michael and Lauren as much as we did. More for 2025, please.

HIT: Nina and Curtis commiserate about Drew (GH). Sorry, Drew (Cameron Mathison). We are here for conversations where people express their disappointment in Drew. Friends Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Nina (Cynthia Watros) discussed how Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) actually attended Drew’s swearing-in ceremony in Washington, D.C., and we think Curtis talked Nina into telling Willow the truth. While Drew and Willow were “developing feelings,” Nina and Drew were hooking up. Something tells us, however, that the relationship that will implode after this revelation will be between Willow and Nina and not between Drew and Willow.

MISS: Ava begs Alexis for her money back (GH). Apparently, the show feels Ava (Maura West) needs to somehow pay for what happened in her hotel room that night Kristina (Kate Mansi) lost the baby she was carrying. Not only did the money from Nikolas’s (Adam Huss) divorce settlement get removed from her account. So did the money from the Wyndemere sale. On top of this, she had to go through Kristina’s mother, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), to find out why her money disappeared. Ava swallowed her pride and pleaded with Alexis to help her get her money back. And Alexis took pleasure in telling her she couldn’t help. Team Ava.
