As William Reynolds, Guiding Light actor Renauld White saw all the comings and goings in Springfield via his role at the Blue Orchid, has died. The actor was 80 years old.

In Memoriam

According to Legacy, White died on June 26 in a New York City hospital. No cause of death has been given.

The actor started out as a model back in the 1960s while he was making ends meet as a clerk for Western Union. He studied at Rutgers University. After being turned down by the Ford Modeling Agency, he went to sign with Wilhelmina Models.

“RIP Sir -you were a legend and an icon, long before there was [Tyson Beckford] there was [Renauld White] and you will be missed!” wrote Keren Louise on White’s Instagram page. “To lose you [at] 80, is shocking, felt like you would be here much longer -thank you for your superb work and career.”

White began acting on GL in 1986 as William, who worked with Warren Andrews (Warren Burton) at the Blue Orchid, which was the place to meet and eat in Springfield. After the Blue Orchid died off, William began working at TV station WSPR alongside Gilly Grant (Amelia Marshall). The two danced around a romance but nothing serious developed.

Former GL publicity director Alan Locher, host of The Locher Room, paid tribute to White on social media. “We lost another Guiding Light alum on June 26th,” Locher posted. “Do you remember Renauld White? I certainly do. RIP, Renauld.”

During his career as a model, Renauld White wore fashions for Bill Blass and appeared on the cover of GQ magazine.

White’s other acting credits include Gun Hill in 2014 and Central Park, a thriller, in 2017. Soap Hub sends sincere condolences to White’s family and friends at this difficult time.
