Sure, it looks like a prestige drama — starring 5-time Academy Award nominee Annette Benning and Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Sam Neill, lots of expensive outdoor shots, and multiple lines of dialogue that seem deeper than they actually are. But, what, exactly separates it from Bold and Restless Days Hospital?

What’s the Story, Morning Glory

There’s this couple, see? They’ve been married for forty years. They’ve had ups, they’ve had downs, they’ve had secrets. They have four kids. The four kids have secrets. And then, one day, Mom disappears. Where did she go?

Dad says everything is fine. The kids aren’t buying it. And then there’s the mysterious woman who showed up at their mansion one day, claiming she was running away from an abusive boyfriend… and somehow never got around to leaving. The first episode features a bloody bicycle being driven away in a pickup truck. Dum…dum…DUM? Who did what to whom and why?
