Soap Opera fans noticed something unusual when they went to Facebook and Instagram to check in on their favorites from General Hospital, Days of our Lives, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful on Tuesday, March 5. The situation led many to believe they’d been hacked. Facebook was down along with Instagram.
All over Twitter, fans wondered if Facebook was down, or if they’d been hacked. According to Downdetector, reports of users unable to use their meta properties, including Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram, spiked mid-morning on Tuesday.
Of course, soap fans on X (formerly Twitter) weren’t too sad since they frequently get their daily fix of discussing the drama on the platform owned by Elon Musk.
General Hospital‘s Réal Andrews, who recently teased a return, weighed in on the real-life drama, writing, “Meta is currently taking a breather! What are your initial thoughts on a world without the social media giant? Are you embracing the unexpected break or feeling the void?
Share your reactions! Facebookdown #Thoughts”
One fan replied, “I literally just tried to get into Facebook, and it was asking me to log in…thought I was hacked. Social media has its pros and cons. We have become so accustomed to it in our daily lives and it can be used for good reasons. We could never turn back.”
