Hits and Misses

What we think worked and didn’t work.

The Bold and the Beautiful

HIT: Brooke overheard Hope and Carter’s takeover plan…and then told Ridge. This might be our favorite moment of the week because it was so unexpected. Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) has kept so many of Hope’s (Annika Noelle) secrets. After all, she keeps walking in on her daughter at the most inopportune of moments. But this time, she overheard Hope and Carter’s (Lawrence Saint-Victor) plan and made a beeline straight for Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). And she told him everything. She didn’t hold back. It was epic and the perfect Friday cliffhanger.

MISS: Hope can’t think of someone better to run Forrester than Carter? As much as we think Carter is invaluable to Forrester Creations, the person who should be running the company should be a Forrester. However, those Forresters should recognize good ideas when they hear it.

HIT: Electra is friendly with her perceived stalker guy. This was also an unexpected moment. Will (Crew Morrow) leaves to return to work, and Electra (Laneya Grace) stays behind at Il Giardino. That’s when Remy (Christian Weissmann), who has been getting a creepy edit thus far, walks right up to Electra, and the two reconnect. Electra is friendly with him, and it confused us in a good way. Now, we want to know more about this story. Hopefully, the show will give answers next week.

MISS: How often does Carter have to plead the Logan’s and Hope for the Future‘s case? It felt like Carter made so many attempts to change Ridge and Steffy’s minds about firing Hope and killing Hope for the Future. It was exhausting when he tried one last time before unleashing that LLC document that made him the Forrester Creations CEO.

MISS: Where was Luna on Friday? There was no trace of Luna (Lisa Yamada) and Bill (Don Diamont) on Friday despite them being on the last two Fridays. What happened? We were hoping this story would at least unfold every Friday. Did Luna send Bill another letter?

General Hospital

HIT: Danny, Rocco, and Scout. Since Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) death, it’s been heartbreaking to hear conversations about where Danny and Scout will live and with whom. The kids clearly don’t want to split up, although they know that might be impossible. Every scene with the kids is enjoyable. They banded together to cover Scout spilling the art supplies. Danny and Rocco said they would always be brothers. Rocco overhears Nina (Cynthia Watros) saying Jason (Steve Burton) was the one to hit Drew (Cameron Mathison). The kids are giving good soap. Kudos to Finn Francis Carr, Asher Antonyzyn, and Cosette Abinante.

MISS: Drew lies to Nina. What is going on with Drew? Is the show purposefully giving him a villain edit? He told Nina that he only kissed Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) once. He failed to mention the other kiss and, oh yeah, the fact that they slept together.

MISS: Sam’s will establishes that she wants Danny and Scout to live with Drew. Understandably, this will was created when Jason was presumed dead. However, there is an updated will, right? So, this Jason versus Drew business could be all for naught. Where’s Diane (Carolyn Hennesy)?

HIT: Jason and Dante talk. Jason and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) don’t converse all that much despite Jason being Sonny’s right hand. But in the wake of Sam’s death, this is one of the chats that we anticipated the most. And it didn’t disappoint.

MISS: What are they doing with Gio? It feels like Gio (Giovanni Mazza) is simply a casual observer of the chaos that goes on in Port Charles. But the show hasn’t done anything real with him. Is that ever going to change?

HIT: Three men and a few kids living together with a bunch of other people. We felt the significance when Jason agreed to live in the Quartermaine mansion again. It was a great moment showing he’d do anything for Danny. Dante will also move into the Q compound. So that means Jason, Dante, and Drew under one roof. Let the tension begin.

MISS: How creepy is Cyrus (Jeff Kober) hovering over Lulu? We felt for Lulu (Alexa Havins), especially since she’s awake now. Umm…where’s Laura (Genie Francis)?

JURY’s OUt: Kristina (Kate Mansi) potentially working for Sonny (Maurice Benard). What are they setting up here?

Days of Our Lives

HIT: Xander apologizes to Brady. Xander (Paul Telfer) won’t listen to anyone when he’s in revenge mode. And so he did some awful things to Brady (Eric Martsolf) when he thought he was the one to run Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) over. But now that Brady prodded Kristen to hand over Dr. Rolf’s (Richard Wharton) miracle serum without giving Titan up, Xander finally gave Brady a proper apology. And we truly believed he was sincere. Ultimately, it was a touching moment between two individuals who usually despise each other.

MISS: Kristen DiMera. What is wrong with her? Her entitlement has reached catastrophic levels. Why doesn’t Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) see that’s not going to get her what she wants? Expecting the world for doing one thing that wasn’t exactly out of the goodness of her heart will chase Brady away.

HIT: Brady and Ava. We’re finally warming up to these two. Their interactions this week were cute. On top of that, Ava (Tamara Braun) could be a good rival to Kristen.

MISS: Paulina making her own rules. Usually, making your own rules is commendable. And we encourage that. But there are certain times when you need to follow the actual rulebook. For example, Paulina (Jackée Harry) should have checked with HR before demoting Rafe (Galen Gering). She’s also made a mess of the DA position.

HIT: Loved the use of cupcakes. Best. Prop. Ever.

MISS: Why go back to the tainted biscuit well? Wasn’t there a more unique way for a mysterious person to mess with Body & Soul?

HIT: Aaron and Sophia. These two always find themselves on the outside of things. Yet, hearing Aaron’s (Louis Tomeo) and Sophia’s (Madelyn Kientz) perspectives on their less-than-ideal lives was appreciated and sad. It was a nice bonding moment between these two.

MISS: Blink, and you miss it, couples. Leo (Greg Rikaart) and Javi (Al Calderon) get together, but it ends two seconds later because Leo accuses Javi of being the fake Lady Whistleblower. Tate (Leo Howard) and Sophia get together, and they break up shortly after. Let us get used to couples before breaking them up, please. We’re starting to find it hard to root for anybody.

MISS: Gabi tells JJ she missed Abigail. Those words coming out of Gabi’s (Cherie Jimenez) mouth rang false. Sure, Gabi (then Camila Banus) and Abigail (Marci Miller) used to be friends, but that was a long time ago. We mostly know them as enemies. We haven’t forgotten the history between the two women.

HIT: AnnaLynne McCord as Cat Greene. Now that she’s no longer pretending to be the late Abigail suddenly resurrected, we’re digging her vibe.

The Young and the Restless

HIT: Jack and Diane feeling the effects of their ruse. Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters) said some awful things to each other even though they were pretending the entire time. It was good that they had a conversation where they walked back their words. However, there had to be some truth in what they said to each other, right?

HIT: Monday’s episode. Jack and Diane tell Kyle (Micheal Mealor) about their act. Sharon (Sharon Case) confesses all to Nick (Joshua Morrow). Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) is in the hospital with her kids by her side. Jack and Diane reconnecting. It was an enjoyable way to kick off the week.

MISS: Jack not telling Billy the truth. Why couldn’t Jack just tell Billy (Jason Thompson) that he and Diane planned their whole separation so they could save Kyle from Victor (Eric Braeden)? That way, we could be spared more of Billy’s woe-is-me act. And as for Billy, couldn’t he have waited for an explanation? Why did Jack need to give him the job right then and there?

MISS: Summer’s attitude towards Chance. Understandably Summer (Allison Lanier) was pissed. And clearly, Chance’s way of detective-ing gave her the ick. But she was rude, harsh, and unfair. Not sure why Chance (Conner Floyd) or Summer still might want to salvage something. There isn’t a great love here. It’s okay to walk away.

HIT: Lucy and Daniel reconnect. Lucy’s (Lily Brooks O’Briant) return to Genoa City, and her family was wonderful, and Daniel (Michael Graziadei) really needed that.

HIT: Billy getting the boot. Sorry, this is karma for Billy kicking Lily (Christel Khalil) to the curb. There was a measure of satisfaction even though what Jill (Jess Walton) did was messy as hell. However, this also means something else. Now, Billy can go after Victor full throttle, and that’s what we want to see.

MISS: Victor is hypocritical about Sharon. His “She back among us?” was hypocritical times a thousand.

HIT: Nick calls his dad out on his hypocrisy. Thank you, Nick.
