Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of December 9-13 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless.
#10 HIT: Sharon tells Phyllis she might want to stay away from Crimson Lights (Y&R). Sharon (Sharon Case) and Faith (Reylynn Caster) overheard Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) talking about the night she was run off the road. And when she interrupted Lauren (Tracey Bregman) and Phyllis’s conversation, Phyllis was livid. “Here you are, again. Every time I turn around, there you are.” Sharon had our favorite response of the week. “Well, you know what might help? Staying away from my coffee shop!” We’ve been saying the same thing. You don’t want to run into Sharon, maybe don’t get your coffee at Crimson Lights. Novel idea, huh?
#9 HIT: Tracy accidentally casts Drew/Willow nursery sex video on the big TV (GH). Ned (Wally Kurth) and Tracy’s (Jane Elliot) facial expressions alone made this moment worth the price of admission. They looooved seeing Drew (Cameron Mathison) lose his golden guy status. And you know what? So did we.

#8 MISS: Ridge admitted to not even giving Carter’s grand luxury idea any real thought (B&B). Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) admitting to Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) that he never gave Carter’s (Lawrence Saint-Victor) ideas much of a thought, was horrible to hear. What kind of best friend is that? He knew Carter had been researching and culling data, and plotting out the idea for years. FOR YEARS. And to just reject it like that? Nope. That was an awful admission that didn’t make him look good. However, that still doesn’t mean Carter had a right to take over Forrester Creations. Again, what he needed to do was quit FC and go out on his own.
#7 HIT: Kai and Trina (GH). It’s great that Trina (Tabyana Ali) opened up her mind to the fact that there was more to Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) than she originally thought. And then she borrowed Gio’s (Giovanni Mazza) all-access badge and met the QB1 on his own turf. Those were really nice scenes. And while we will never ever forget #Sprina, we’re opening our minds to Trina and Kai (Trai?). They both glowed when they talked to each other about art history and he gave her a football tutorial.
#6 HIT: Hope warns Doug III (DAYS). This new Doug (Petyon Meyer) is super shady and has possession of Julie’s grandmother’s necklace. Yet he throws her brother Steve (Stephen Schnetzer) under the bus? Nope. That’s why when Hope warned Doug that he better not hurt Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes). And that if he did, she’d be back. And she wouldn’t be so friendly. We loved Hope (Kristian Alfonso) even more in that moment.

#5 MISS: Jack’s win over Victor— it wasn’t enough (Y&R). Buying up all the spare parts of Glissade for pennies on the dollar was a minor win. We can’t believe we’re saying this, but Billy (Jason Thompson) is right. You have to put Victor (Eric Braeden) down for the count if you want to call this a decisive victory. Jack (Peter Bergman) boasting about it needled Victor a little, but Jack should have figured out how to knock his rival out — at least for a round or two.
#4 HIT: Ridge and Brooke insulting each other’s daughters (B&B). First, we are not condoning what Ridge called Hope (Annika Noelle) to her face and behind her back. To use those words were a big MISS, and they certainly triggered Brooke, especially the “S” word. However, the fact that these two were arguing by insulting each other’s daughters. Well, that was pretty delicious. And in this wild story of the Forresters being done in by a signature, we’ll take our wins where we can get them. It looks like their daughters’ rivalry may do Brooke and Ridge in, potentially for good. After all, Ridge already exited stage left in favor of Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) abode.
#3 MISS: Clyde goes out in a coma (DAYS). When Catherina (Susan Elena Matus) shot Clyde (James Read) in the chest, we thought he was a goner. But no, he’s comatose, which means, Clyde can wake up from the coma, and escape anytime the show wants. As much as we adore James Read, the character has caused enough madness and mayhem in his years and years on DAYS. There has to be another way for Chad to find Abigail.
#2 HIT: Audra shows emotion and vulnerability (Y&R). When Nate (Sean Dominic) dragged Audra (Zuleyka Silver) to Lily’s welcome back to Winters celebration, who knew it would turn out to be a wonderfully sappy kind of meal? At first it was hella awkward. That’s what we had expected. But as Devon (Bryto James), Lily (Christel Khalil), and Nate talked about family and legacy and the importance of working together, Audra grew uncharacteristically emotional. It was really great to see. She even opened up a hair about her dysfunctional upbringing. And we really hope that she was being genuine and not just trying to get on the good side of Nate’s family. Understandably, Devon is skeptical. But we want Audra to make the entire family adore her.

#1 MISS: Dex dies (GH). After Sam’s death, we knew there would be more to come. And the writing was on the wall for Dex (Evan Hofer) all week. However, the way the death happened on Friday left us confused. At the end of the Thursday episode, the alarms went off in a GH hospital room. And then that thread didn’t get picked up until midway through the Friday episode. Obviously, it was Dex’s room, and we joined in the middle of the action as Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) attempted to save the patient. The way it all went down was odd and perplexing.
HIT: Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu (Alexa Havins) at Wyndemere / Liz and Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) at the Christmas fair (GH). Much needed moments and conversations between these sets of exes.
MISS: Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) killed Sam (Kelly Monaco)[GH]. As much as we like that there’s a murdery mystery, how much of a mystery is it if we already know who the killer is? If there’s a twist, then we’ll be on board. But until then, already knowing the killer’s identity is a bit of a miss.
MISS: Bill barely talks when Luna is around (B&B). We really want to see a substantive back-and-forth between Bill (Don Diamont) and Luna (Lisa Yamada). He needs to let loose and tell her what he’s truly feeling. For some reason, he keeps it all bottled up and so we get scenes of Luna giving her wonderfully loony perspective. But we don’t get much out of Bill. They need to have a real conversation, even though we have no idea if Luna knows what’s real.

HIT: Dru and Olivia references (Y&R). Please bring Dru (Victoria Rowell) and Olivia (Tonya Williams) back, somehow or someway. They are needed.
HIT: Belle and Shawn stick around Salem (DAYS). Belle (Martha Madison) sticks around to represent Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) against Xander (Paul Telfer). Jada (Elia Cantu) offers Shawn (Brandon Beemer) his job back at the Salem PD. We approve.
