Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of December 2-6 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless.

Top 10 Hits and Misses

#10: HIT: GH’s TJ (Tajh Bellow) and Molly (Kristen Vaganos) are over. It’s not a hit because we’re happy they broke up. It’s a hit because the show devoted a lot of dialogue to their relationship this week. Their POVs were right out there in the open. And it wasn’t just Molly’s perspective. It was TJ’s, too. It was painful to watch each of them struggle with their different needs when it came to grief and having another baby. They suddenly went from a separation to a complete severing. Surprisingly, we felt the end of their domestic partnership.

#9: MISS: Carter files the papers on B&B. Yes, Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) filed the contract, and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) signed it, which named him the manager of the company’s LLC. And now he gets to call the shots at Forrester Creations. It was definitely a deliciously dramatic moment and made for a classic cliffhanger when Carter told the Forresters that he was in charge and wasn’t going anywhere. But this is Carter Walton, who’s been part of the fabric of the show for years. We gave him a pass on the Quinn (Rena Sofer) affair because they were hot. Taking over Forrester Creations? This isn’t him. Going up against Ridge and Steffy, we have no problem with that. But did he need to actually go through with the coup and file the documents? It’s a family business!

#8: HIT: B&B’s Ridge puts all the blame on Hope (Annika Noelle). Brooke puts all the blame on Carter. This whole takeover situation puts Ridge and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) on opposite sides. Although, frankly, Brooke’s trying to straddle both sides. It’s not going to go well for her. And it just may cost her her relationship. Is she ready for that?

#7: MISS: Kyle and Claire. / HIT: Summer’s jealousy. So far, Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Claire (Hayley Erin) are nice enough, but that’s all. Summer’s (Allison Lanier) jealousy adds a little spice to the mix. What we want to see is some of that old Claire who was kind of unhinged and unpredictable. That’s someone who will mess back if someone tries anything with her.

#6: HIT: Alexa Havins as GH’s Lulu. Havins knocked it out of the park as Lulu returned to Port Charles and then proceeded to reunite with Rocco (Finn Carr), Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), Lucky (Jonathan Jackson), Laura (Genie Francis), and Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) in quick succession. The All My Children alum passed the chem tests — at least so far — and it’s a beautiful thing.

#5: MISS: Johnny DiMera keeps taking a hit on DAYS. Every person has their moments of being good and being shady. The shady moments seem to be happening more and more for Johnny (Carson Boatman). As far as we’re concerned, Johnny and Chanel (Raven Bowens) are a rootable couple. Right now, he keeps doing upsetting things. This week, he had the opportunity to go high, and he went low. He backed his dad’s bribery play when Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) called him on it. Johnny even had the audacity to say that Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) could be recast on Body & Soul as if it were no big deal. You’re better than that, Johnny! And Chanel deserves the best.

#4: HIT: Y&R’s Jack gets one-up on Victor. This was a small win, but Jack (Peter Bergman) bought up the companies Victor (Eric Braeden) sold off when he gutted Glissade. He then sold the pieces off for pennies on the dollar, so Jack scored deal after deal. We loved it when Jack spilled his coup to Victor and then walked out of the Newman ranch. It could have been a more satisfying moment, but something tells us that Victor knew what Jack was going to do, so somehow, he got ahead of it. Hopefully, we’re wrong.

#3: MISS: Phyllis has to tell everybody and their brother she was right about Sharon. Then, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) also goes to Crimson Lights and yells at Sharon (Sharon Case), who is in a position to just take it. Phyllis has every right to have it out with Sharon. After all, she perceives the woman to be the murderer. And she perceives Sharon to be the one who ran her off the road. So say your piece and be done. Her diatribe went on and on.

#2: HIT: DAYS was on a roll. All the episodes surrounding Doug’s (the late Bill Hayes) goodbye have been heartbreaking, nostalgic, dramatic, and worth watching. The reunions, Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) incredibly emotional eulogy, Shawn’s (Brandon Beemer) and Belle’s (Martha Madison) marriage ending, and Hope’s (Kristian Alfonso) grieving at her father’s grave were just a few of the stand-out moments from these episodes.

#1: HIT: Ava was found not guilty. This was the only acceptable verdict, especially since Ric (Rick Hearst) was on the case. There’s a lot Ava (Maura West) could go to jail for, but this wasn’t one of them. Ric presented a case that absolutely provided reasonable doubt. Moments like Ric questioning Kristina (Kate Mansi) on the stand. After all the testimony was finished, Ric and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) went at it with vigor and bitterness. And then, in Friday’s episode, he wouldn’t let Alexis and Sonny (Maurice Benard) get the upper hand with Ava regarding Avery (Ava and Grace Scarola).

Honorable Mentions

HIT: Michael stands up to Phyllis to defend Sharon on Y&R. We get why Phyllis was mad at Michael (Christian LeBlanc), but Sharon (Sharon Case) needs help, and Michael will do his best to give it to her. And it’s great how he sneakily texted Nick (Joshua Morrow) for support with Sharon because she wanted to throw herself to the wolves for what she thought she did.

MISS: GH’s Kristina flings a verbal arrow at Molly and hits the bullseye. She finally told her sister, “You were never really Adela’s mother.” That hurt us almost as much as it hurt Molly. That was way over the top even for Kristina, but it signaled she had entered her villain era.

HIT: B&B’s Hope and Carter when they’re not talking about the LLC. It was great when Carter told Hope he didn’t know what the future held. He didn’t know if they were taking over Forrester or if they’d be outcasts. We vote for shunned outcasts because they could do some interesting things on their way back up the corporate ladder.

MISS: In Thursday’s episode, DAYS literally flashed back to a moment that happened five to ten minutes earlier. Hope and Jen (Melissa Reeves) talked about not trusting Doug Williams III (Peyton Meyer) and that Jennifer would do some digging on him. Minutes later, Jennifer flashed back to the conversation she just had with her cousin at the cemetery. What? Why?

HIT: GH’s Stella (Vernee Watson) tells Portia (Brook Kerr) to be professional after witnessing her hostile behavior with Brad. (Parry Shen) Seem impartial. Never let them see you sweat! Great advice.
