Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of October 14-18 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless.

Hits and Misses

What we think worked and didn’t work.

Young and the Restless

HIT: Faith comforted Lucy. Poor Lucy — she’s reeling from losing her mother at such an early age. And when Faith ran into Lucy, she immediately supported the teen. It’s exactly what Lucy needed and all of the awkwardness and the painful social cues weren’t there. Both Reylynn Caster and Lily Brooks O’Briant were great during these scenes.

MISS: Any scene of Billy (Jason Thompson) and Sally (Courtney Hope) running into Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam (Mark Grossman). Unfortunately, these scenes are not as fun or as dramatic as we want them to be.

HIT: Lily says: “Honestly, neither one of them deserves Chancellor.” When Lily (Christel Khalil) said that about Victor (Eric Braeden) and Billy, we had to agree.

MISS: Victor adding Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) wedding to his to-do list. It’s great what Victor’s doing, but doesn’t he have enough on his plate right now? Revenge on Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters). Attempting to take over Abbott-Chancellor. Railroading Lily. Manipulating his family. Being mad at Cole (J. Eddie Peck) and Michael (Christian LeBlanc). That’s a lot to to-dos to tackle.

General Hospital

HIT: Ric plays dirty with Kristina. Rick Hearst is so good at playing a schemer. When Ric lured Kristina (Kate Mansi) into a trap of his own making, it was brilliant. He riled her up a little bit, and her emotions went through the roof and she couldn’t even stop herself.

HIT: Sam and Dante’s family group hug. Each Sam (Kelly Monaco) scene that plays out is getting us sadder and sadder. Having said that, we still enjoyed when she and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) told the kids that she was going to be the donor for Lulu (Alexa Havins) and they sealed the moment with a group hug. We felt that hug.

MISS: Drew’s opinion being louder than anyone else’s during these ELQ conversations. How does Drew (Cameron Mathison) end up dictating everything that goes on with ELQ these days? He’s so comfy in his mistrust of Ned (Wally Kurth). It doesn’t seem to be simply about Ned siding with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart).

MISS: Holly (Emma Samms) being Sasha’s mom means no Sasha and Cody. Until we know something different, Robert (Tristan Rogers) is Sasha’s (Sofia Mattsson) father, which means she’s Cody’s (Josh Kelly) first cousin. There aren’t a lot of couples on GH that get to be couples. And it’s been nice seeing these two grow and develop a relationship and instant support system. And then it stopped in its tracks.

HIT: On the other hand, Holly being Sasha’s mom gives her something to do. It’s nice, for the moment, that this development fleshes out the character a little bit. And it has nothing to do with all that tragedy she has experienced in Port Charles the last few years.

Days of Our Lives

HIT: Marlena, Eric, and Brady in the interrogation room. Marlena (Deidre Hall) held on to Eric (Greg Vaughan) as they expressed their love and happiness that Brady (Eric Martsolf) would soon be free of all of his charges. It was a really sweet, fun, exchange and we loved every bit of it.

MISS: Johnny DiMera. When did Johnny (Carson Boatman) start lacking faith in Chanel (Raven Bowens)? He should know better. Besides, he didn’t see anything but Alex’s (Robert Scott Wilson) back. It’s frustrating because We thought Janel was more solid than this. Nothing they’ve been put through the last year or so makes sense, except their wedding.

MISS: EJ needs to stop misusing his DA role. We get EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) hates Brady, but come on, let the man go without trying to come up with ways to shackle him to his cell for even longer.

MISS: Clyde leaves a gun for Dr. Mark Greene to find. Somehow, from Super Max, Clyde (James Read) got someone to hide a gun underneath a table in the one restaurant in Paris so Mark (Jonah Robinson) could grab it and carry out the plan to kill Chad (Billy Flynn).

HIT: Xander faces Fiona. Fiona (Serena Scott Thomas) was found out and we couldn’t wait for the inevitable Xander (Paul Telfer) /Fiona confrontation. And it didn’t disappoint. There was no going back from witnessing your mother almost kill your wife.

Bold and the Beautiful

HIT: Just showing a happy couple be happy. When it’s just Finn (Tanner Novlan) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) on, they’re showing happiness and love. And they deserve that until the next big obstacle threatens to tear their relationship apart.

MISS: The Namaste Chakra meditative moment featuring Ridge and Taylor, and then Brooke. Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) didn’t need to tell Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) about Taylor’s (Rebecca Budig) Broken Heart Syndrome. But he should have told her something about why he was once again spending time with Taylor. But he looked like he enjoyed every bit of that chakra session.

Meanwhlie, Brooke was outside spying on their spiritual rebirth. While Taylor was feeling that amazing lightness and freedom after the healing session, Brooke interrupted that little bit of happiness. Their conversation could have happened later or not at all as far as we’re concerned. Brooke should have talked to Ridge first.

Also, we don’t know if Taylor is over Ridge or she wants to be all over Ridge. She can say she’s done with him but we’re not convinced.

HIT: Two sets are back — Spencer Publications and Carter’s (Lawrence Saint-Victor) apartment. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen either of these sets. We were happy to see them.

MISS: Liam is all about Hope just as Ivy returns. Will Liam (Scott Clifton) forget about Hope with Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) around? Let’s see how much Liam has matured and changed over the next few weeks.
