Soap Hub‘s hits and misses for the week of August 24-28 included a lot of hot messes. A messy secret after a one-night stand. A messy office fling. And a messy confrontation between a mom and the woman her son just slept with. It’s time to dissect what went down on all five soaps: Beyond the Gates, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless.

Hits and Misses Breakdown: August 24-28, 2026
Beyond the Gates
HIT: Carlton officially moves on from Nicole. It was nice to see Carlton (Robert Christopher Riley) get some of the focus this week. It was even better to see him move on from Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix). Sure, it was a one-night stand with Heather (Ashley Jones), who didn’t even give him her name. But hopefully this is a signal that he’s ready to live in the moment rather than the past. And he’ll find someone else to occupy his time.
MISS: Eva’s territorial moment. Wow, Eva (Ambyr Michelle) acting territorial with Izaiah (Lami) was a choice. She knows that Kat (Colby Nixon) and Izaiah were friendly way before Eva ever met him, right? While we understand Kat and Eva’s contentious relationship, Eva lays all of the blame on Kat, who definitely deserves a good portion of it. But so does Eva. If she is jealous of Izaiah talking business with Kat and admiring her success, there’s something wrong. Some soul-searching is needed.
Worth a Mention (HIT): Prison updates. Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) remembering the anniversary of her kidnapping was unexpected but appreciated. It was a traumatic event and, of course, she wouldn’t be over it. Kat going to Jacob (Jibre Hordges) and asking him to look into the mystery phone calls is exactly what a cousin-bestie would do. And then it turned out that Allison (Brianna Roberts) did have a burner phone. But that wasn’t the only prison update of the week. Lia’s (Cecelia Specht) death coincided with The Impaler being in the DMV. This wasn’t a coincidence. And it gave the story a much-needed boost. Nice — but brutal — touches all around.

The Bold and the Beautiful
HIT: Dylan continues to withstand Katie’s onslaught of judgment. Dylan (Sydney Bullock) didn’t back down against Katie’s high-and-mighty act. Katie (Heather Tom) and the Logans didn’t exactly grow up in the lap of luxury. So her perspective is screaming hypocrisy. It’s okay to be suspicious. She’s protective of Will (Crew Morrow), after all. And Dylan isn’t exactly a green flag kind of gal. But the way Katie talks to her and about her is beyond harsh and condescending. So Dylan standing up for herself in the face of such vitriol was great.
MISS: Carter begs Steffy to keep their night a secret. While Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) isn’t a perfect man, compared to the rest of Los Angeles, he’s an upstanding guy. When he’s not plotting to take over Forrester, that is. Usually, he’s fairly honest. In this case, he’s the one adamant about keeping his one-night stand with Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) a secret. We could see both of them drawing the same conclusion. But something about his begging Steffy to keep their sleeping together on the down low doesn’t sit right.
Worth a Mention (MISS): Electra as the potential face of Forrester’s new youth line. Yes, Forrester has to find a way to beat Logan at their own one-upmanship game. But we’re not sure giving Electra (Laneya Grace) her own line is the way to go, at least not as a replacement for Hope for the Future. HFTF started with an empowering message. The way R.J. (Brayan Nicoletti) and Electra pitched it, she is young and has a good social media following, so why not? They need to dig deeper and come up with a less shallow reason for stepping up to the plate. And not one that necessarily repeats HFTF’s message.

Days of our Lives
HIT: Three couples we’re loving. The state of couples on soaps, including DAYS, is often concerning. But this week, there were three DAYS pairings that got our attention. Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) showed up for Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier), who’s searching for redemption and trying to save his family. Shawn (Brandon Beemer) set the stage for a wonderful evening of romance. He wanted to thank Jada (Elia Cantu) for all the support she had given him as he recovered from his injury. And Aaron (Louis Tome) and Ari (Vico Escorcia) represented young love. Their adorable connection developed from a friendship. And now they’re entering a new year of college.
MISS: Brady and Sarah. Unfortunately, Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) didn’t give us the same warm-and-fuzzy vibes as the other couples. This week, they hit a milestone. They said they loved each other. We were a little surprised to even hear those words. Yes, they have been together for a while, but it feels like they’ve skipped some steps here. We’re enjoying the two as they work together to solve the Coriseal mystery, however.
Worth a Mention (HIT): Hiring Brytni Sarpy. We love this casting news for DAYS. Sarpy, when given the opportunity, can do great things. We can’t wait to find out who she’s playing and who she’ll be playing opposite.

General Hospital
HIT: Alexis tells Willow off. It took most of the year, but Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) finally got to tell Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) that she had known about her shooting Drew (Cameron Mathison) since the trial. And she used her knowledge to get Willow to back off from Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) and Trina (Tabyana Ali). They were very satisfying scenes, even as Willow tried to come up with a ton of excuses for why she did what she did. And she tried to blame everybody else for doing what she did. Unfortunately, nothing more came of it. The woman needs to log some time in a psychiatric facility.
MISS: Nina. Jack (Chris McKenna) gave Nina (Cynthia Watros) the best advice. He told her to stop enabling her daughter. And when she found out that he confronted Willow about holding to a deal that they had made, she turned on Brennan. It was difficult to watch, and we hope that one day Nina wakes up and realizes that he was right all along. And don’t get us started on the way she talked to Serena (Kelly Kruger).
Worth a Mention (HIT): Valentin, Carly, and Anna. At the moment, we choose to believe Carly (Laura Wright) when she says she’s okay with Valentin helping Anna. It’s very mature of her. And Anna needs a lot of help. She’s understandably broken right now. And Valentin is one of the few people who can handle Anna’s brokenness. And this way, as much as we adore Valentin and Carly as a couple, we also get scenes with Valentin and Anna. James Patrick Stuart and Finola Hughes always play off each other so well.

The Young and the Restless
HIT: Victoria and Kyle hook up at the Jabot offices. Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) hooking up at Jabot was messy, soapy, and surprisingly wonderful. They weren’t on our bingo card. But we are especially here for it if it means the fallout once people find out about the fling (whether it’s one-and-done or they are frequent flyers) is turbulent and potentially destructive.
MISS: Victor’s refusal to think that Jack should sponsor Nick. We are back here again. Victor (Eric Braeden) tells Nikki that he forbids Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) from becoming Nick’s sponsor. Forget the fact that Nick (Joshua Morrow) isn’t even thinking about that right now. He has other things to worry about, like his recovery in rehab. But ultimately, it’s not even Victor’s choice. He has no say in this. It’s not his addiction. Nick is a grown adult who can choose for himself.
Worth a Mention (MISS): Holden really has to think about taking Billy up on his offer. We would have been really disappointed if Holden (Nathan Owens) had chosen to go to work for Billy (Jason Thompson) over his loyalty to Lily (Christel Khalil). He doesn’t know Billy from Adam. It shouldn’t have been such a debate with him. At least he chose his sister, which is why we’re only half-disappointed in him now.
