There’s edge-of-your-seat drama going on with the character of Ashley Abbott this week on The Young and the Restless. But where’s her on-again/off-again boyfriend Ravi in all this? His portrayer, Abhi Sinha, is speaking out!

As Y&R fans recall, Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Ravi embarked on an unlikely relationship last year when the cosmetics heiress and the computer geek found their friendship turn into something more.

It was sweet and off-beat… and then it just kind of came to a halt. Ravi shifted to the backburner. Ravi’s popped up a few times this year, like when Kyle (Michael Mealor) wanted to decipher a digital recording damaged in a fire, but has otherwise been off the canvas.

Now the actor has shared a social media missive with his followers, giving them an update on his status… and why he thinks his character is no more.

“I want to thank every one of my fans who for months have been asking about Ravi’s return to Y and R,” Sinha posted. “Honestly, I don’t know the answer.”

The actor goes on to praise his (former?) castmates including Eileen Davidson (Ashley) and “the legendary” Eric Braeden (Victor).

In his post, Sinha references recent rumors regarding reports of harrassment against the powers that be at Y&R and theorizes those may have played a role in his screentime or lack thereof.

“[L]ike a domino effect it is the characters and the actors who play them that take the fall.”

There’s been little follow-up to the original printed rumors of backstage strife at Y&R so it’s hard to gauge how much Ravi’s absence is related to those unsubstantiated reports.

The actor is trying to remain philosophical about all this change in his life. “I love acting and wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world,” he posts. “I won’t let rejection or second-guessing myself define or upset me anymore.”

I want to thank every one of my fans who for months have been asking about Ravi’s return to Y&R. Honestly, I don’t know the answer. I was privileged to work with some amazing soap vets like @eileendavidsonofficial , @kristoffstjohn , Peter Bergman, @ginatognoni , @theoriginaldanielhall , @ryanashton , @christianjleblanc , @katelinderyr and the legendary Eric Braeden. I’ve been fortunate to make some lifelong friendships. However, there have been recent allegations of abuse and harassment against the show’s producers/writers as well as potential litigation that may affect the future of the show and like a Domino effect it is the characters and the actors who play them that take the fall. While I have been fortunate enough to NOT be killed or written off- the future is uncertain. Things like this used to derail me. I would get so upset about not booking work especially after getting to the last stages of auditions, producer sessions and screen tests. I didnt realize how trivial those problems are in the grand scheme of life. The recent loss of my babies Boba Fett and Bellatrix in such a short time has put a lot of things into perspective. I love acting and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world. But I realize now, that I won’t let rejection or second-guessing myself define or upset me anymore. Those things don’t control my happiness or who I am. The things that do are my family. My mother and father; my brother and sister; my dogs, Max and Rooney; my friends, and last but certainly not least Helen who has been a rock and true partner in every sense of the word. I’ve recently found a lot of happiness in nature. Joshua tree and Sequoia, most recently were therapeutic and peaceful. The earth is so much bigger than one person’s problems. I suppose this Epiphany is called life, learning, and growth.
