Eric Braeden may be absent from Genoa City and The Young and the Restless (until Monday, December 24 when he returns to the screen), but he’s still a strong presence on social media speaking his mind.
The veteran soap actor once again took to Twitter to share his thoughts about the direction of his longtime soap.
Braeden wants fans to know that he’s not against new blood; he’s just opposed to the way new characters are being written in, specifically the Rosales family.
With the Rosales family being Latino, some fans seemed unsure if his thoughts had anything to do with the characters’ heritage, and he set the record straight.
“[D]on’t you dare accuse me of ‘racist’ attitude when I have spent my lifetime going against that evil, looong before it was ‘politically correct!’ I am, however, against arbitrary intros of characters!!”
After defending himself, fans responded with their own supportive tweets and questions.
One asked him if he was referring to both the Rosales family and the same sex story featuring Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Cait Fairbanks (Tessa) when he was posting his concerns.
In the past, Braeden has shared his displeasure with certain changes that have gone on at Y&R including the sidelining of veteran actors including Doug Davidson (Paul) and Christian Jules LeBlanc (Michael).
You can read his thoughts below.
To those who are dying to start shit with me, go for it!! But don’t you dare accuse me of “racist” attitude when I have spent my lifetime going against that evil, looong before it was “politically correct!”I am, however, against arbitrary intros of characters!!

We are talking about two different aspects of the show ! Storyline between Mariah and Tessa is more organic, evolving from a long time cast member, therefore absolutely cool! But other characters have suddenly appeared without a history &displaced long time characters!
