In the Thursday, May 22 episode of Beyond the Gates, Anita had Naomi meet Tracy and then told her old groupmate about the Articulettes reunion she hopes will happen. Ashley and Derek hashed out their issues. Leslie went shopping in Eva’s luxury hotel room. Kat read her parents into her investigation of Leslie and Eva. And then she gets a huge lead that could break this whole attempted murder wide open.

Kat Richardson, Private Eye

Kat (Colby Muhammad) might want to either take up detective-ing as a side hustle or drop the business angle altogether and explore a true crime career. For the most part, she’s really good at this. Sure, she tends to stubbornly stick to the narrative she’s pushing. And that’s that Eva (Ambyr Michelle) was 100% in on Leslie’s revenge agenda. Kat doesn’t want to even think about Eva not having anything to do with Laura’s hit-and-run, as well as spiking her IV with potassium.

She finally informs Ted (Keith D. Robinson) and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) about the hit-and-run and potassium poisoning. Nicole immediately feels unsafe at work while Ted defends his daughter and blames Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant). He knows this is right up her alley. Nicole calls in Jacob (Jibre Hordges), and while he’s done his due diligence, he isn’t quick enough.

Leave it up to Kat to get the next lead. We’ve been waiting for someone to talk to Shanice (Ernestine Johnson), and that’s exactly what she did. So far, Shanice has told her about a strange nurse who was at the computer the night Laura (Destiny Love) was poisoned. The woman gave her bad vibes, and she’s never seen her since, so it has to be insurance. Can’t wait until Shanice remembers the woman’s name: Nurse Lulu Lenhart! Kat will undoubtedly realize that was another one of Leslie’s million names. Hopefully, Jacob will spot her on the hospital security footage he will look at sooner rather than later.

Kat and Jacob are closer to pinning this on Leslie. But they’ll need to watch out for the woman of many aliases. She’s dangerous.

Easter Egg Time

We also learned during Thursday’s episode that June (Jasmine Burke) is not Naomi’s client’s real name. When Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) had Nicole strike up a chat with the recovering patient, she tried to find out who she really was. June, at first, admitted that Jessica Griffin was her real name. Her story was that she was married to someone named Duncan, whose wife, Shannon, had died. But it turned out that Shannon wasn’t dead but was in prison and then returned.

That’s when Nicole realized that June was joking. She used a storyline from the late, great soap opera As the World Turns. BTG’s own Tamara Tunie (Anita) played lawyer Jessica Griffin on ATWT, and Jessica was married to Scottishman Duncan McKechnie (Michael Swan), whose wife Shannon (Margaret Reed) came back from the dead.
