Judith Chapman OFF DAYS…Will Gloria Return to Y&R?

It’s not like you can try to kill Marlena on Days of Our Lives and stick around — at least not if you get caught. So, Salem has sadly seen the last of Diana Colville and her portrayer, Judith Chapman.

Fresh on the heels of her TV son, Greg Rikaart (ex-Leo) tweeting his departure from the soap, Chapman did a simple social media goodbye as well.

The actress posted to Facebook a picture of her facing John, who was holding the evidence, with a caption that says it all:

“OHH, JOHN, DARLING….You can’t possibly suspect me…???”
POOR DIANA….ADIOS DIANA…”

It wasn’t a long stint this time for the soap vet, who first appeared in Salem as Diana on January 29 of this year.

Playing John’s newly-returned ex (a role originated by General Hospital’s Genie Francis) caused a bit of controversy for longtime fans who were shocked at the character’s personality change.

They were also surprised to see Chapman playing a new role. The actress had already played Anjelica Deveraux, Jack’s (Matthew Ashford) stepmother back in 1990 and again in a Hattie (Deidre Hall) dream sequence last year on Halloween.

It was fun though for fans who also watch The Young and the Restless and loved Chapman and Rikaart as mother and son, Gloria and Kevin respectively, on that show. Now that both actors are available (and have been for months considering DAYS’ advanced taping schedule), could a return to that show happen?

Gloria’s other son, Michael (Christian J. Leblanc) is still firmly ensconced in Genoa City and former love interest Jack (Peter Bergman) will be losing the woman in his life shortly with the already-announced departure of Alice Hunter as Kerry. It would seem the timing could be perfect for Gloria to reclaim her place in Jack’s life.

Add to that Chapman was being used less and less on that show during the Mal Young regime.

Now, with Josh Griffith at the writing helm and Anthony Morina as executive producer, perhaps a return to Genoa City possible.
