When former FBI director James Comey testifies publicly before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday, all three networks plan to air the historic event.
The coverage will not affect Days of Our Lives (DOOL), as French Open finals were to pre-empt the soap on Thursday and Friday, but CBS and ABC soaps will feel the effect in some way.
While the testimony is only scheduled till 1, the networks do plan to have “pundits” on hand to discuss what was said after. That could eat into both The Young and the Restless (YR) and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) if he drops any surprising information.
If the soaps are both pre-empted in full, the schedule will likely be pushed back a day and they’ll air Friday instead.
That means the 2 PM EST airing of General Hospital (GH) could be pre-empted partially or in full, especially if the testimony goes longer than scheduled.
The president also plans a rally after the hearing, but there is no word yet whether the networks will cover that event.
As Soap Hub learns more about how the hearing will affect your soaps, we’ll let you know.
