How Soap Fans REALLY Feel About Actors After They Leave a Show

Some actors, like Julianne Moore, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, Nia Long, Ryan Phillipe, Marisa Tomei, and Meg Ryan, leave soap operas for the big screen.

Some, like Sarah Michelle Geller, Shemar Moore, John Stamos, Josh Duhamel, Kelly Ripa, Eva Longoria, and Sherry Stringfield, leave for other opportunities on the small screen.

Some, like Renee Elise Goldsberry, hit the stage to rap about Hamilton.

But most of them leave, all the same. The question is, do their fans follow?

Out Of Sight, Out of Mind
Sorry, Oscar, Emmy, and Tony winners, dismiss 54% of you. Once you’re off my daytime screen, you are off my radar. Sure, I loved you. But the version of you that you presented on my soap.

I rooted for (or hissed at) Sami Brady on Days Of Our Lives (DOOL). I didn’t care who Alison Sweeney was watching lose weight that week.

Ronn Moss made an interesting, scarf-wearing Ridge on The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), but his music isn’t really my thing.

And Justin Hartley is Adam on The Young and the Restless (YR). This Is Us is for Them.

If Somebody Loves You, Don’t They Always Love You?
I would never be so fickle, counter the remaining 46%. If you can handle Sarah Brown starting as Carly on General Hospital (GH), then moving to B&B and As the World Turns before returning as Claudia to GH, you can pretty much follow anyone, anywhere.

Susan Lucci can be Erica Kane on All My Children and hysterically funny on those Progressive commercials. Nathan Fillion was so adorable on One Life to Live, you followed him to outer space… and a Castle.

And you could have gotten double watching Robin Wright on Santa Barbara and in The Princess Bride, before she really hit her stride in House of Cards.
