Soap Deaths
Sometimes you can tell what is going to happen on a soap a month or so down the line but once in a while, our favorite shows are able to surprise us with a completely shocking soap death.
There have been quite a few soap tragedies over the last few years, but Soap Hub asked which soap death was the most shocking — and you didn’t disappoint! Almost 11,000 weighed in with an answer. Here are the results!
The Phoenix No Longer Rises
A very strong 44% chose Hope (Kristian Alfonso) shooting Stefano (the late Joe Mascolo) on Days of Our Lives as the most shocking! After all, Hope is supposed to be a cop and not one to just shoot someone dead.
But, considering all of the torment he’s put her family through, was it really surprising?
Not only that, Rafe (Galen Gering) and Roman (Josh Taylor) worked to cover it up so Hope wouldn’t have to pay for doing it. There was a Stefano spotting but it’s hard to tell if that was an illusion or not. Either way, that moment is seared in your memory!
Farewell To One of Port Charles’ Finest
Almost as shocking with 41% of the vote was Nathan’s (Ryan Paevey) death on General Hospital.
Nathan was young, hot, and about to be a new father. How could he be killed — and by his own father to boot?! Nathan was a hero and everything that was right with this world.
Those around him may have been questionable (the mother is a piece of work), but he was pure at heart and he and Maxie (Kirsten Storms) loved each other tremendously. It was so unfair and you still haven’t gotten over it — and we don’t blame you!
Worst Mother-in-Law Ever!
That leaves 15% who thought Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) killing JT (Thad Luckinbill) was the most shocking recent soap death they’ve seen.
Nikki simply snapped when she saw JT attacking her daughter Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and it was her mama-bear instinct that caused her to do whatever it took to get him off of her.
Unfortunately, it seemed that her actions caused his death (though we don’t know for sure) and that was something you weren’t expecting!
Not only that, who would have thought no one would call the police! It was completely unexpected and the ramifications continue to be felt to this day.
